Engine Block Services

Precision machining services to restore, strengthen, and optimise engine blocks.

Engine block services - OCS

Built on Accuracy. Finished for Performance.

We offer a full range of engine block machining services, including rebore and honing, line honing and boring, and block decking. Each service is carried out with precision to suit your specific engine build, whether for repair, refresh, or performance use.

Customers typically supply the engine block in bare form, or as fully stripped as possible. Each block is carefully inspected and measured before we recommend the exact machining work required. No machining begins until this assessment is complete and agreed.

Rebore, Hone & Plateau Hone

Restores worn or damaged cylinders and applies the correct surface finish for new piston rings to bed in properly. Reboring requires oversized pistons, making this the ideal stage to specify pistons at the same time — including our forged IRP piston sets, which we can supply.

Line Hone Bearing icon

Line Hone – Main

Corrects alignment of the main bearing tunnel, typically required after high mileage, general wear, or fastener upgrades. This process ensures the crankshaft runs true and helps reduce premature bearing wear.

Corrective process icon

Line Bore – Main

A more corrective process than line honing, used when the main bearing tunnel is significantly out of specification. Often recommended when fitting ARP main bolts or studs (also available from us), as increased clamping forces can distort the tunnel.

Block Reface (Decking)

Machines the block deck flat and square to the crank centreline. Essential for proper head gasket sealing, accurate compression ratio, and consistent quench clearance.

Already Going In? Now's the Time to Upgrade.

Once an engine block is stripped down for machining, you're already at the best possible moment to consider upgrading your pistons and rods — and it costs far less in labour than coming back to do it later.

During block work

If your cylinders are being rebored, oversized pistons are already part of the job. Rather than fitting standard replacements, this is the natural point to step up to forged IRP pistons. The machining is happening anyway, so there's no better time to do it properly.

When chasing more power

As engine output increases, the standard bottom end becomes the weak link. Forged rods and pistons are built to handle the extra load that cast components simply weren't designed for. If performance is the goal, upgrading the bottom end at this stage protects everything above it.
